The York Open 2010

Following the success of the York IV 2010, the York Debating Society is proud to present the York Open 2010! With an excellent judging pool, 7 minute speeches, and one of the best socials on the circuit, this is an open not to be missed. This website aims to give you all the information you will need before, during and after the competition.

This promises to be one of the best competitions of the summer, so make sure you register today!

What you can expect from the York Open:

  • Great motions
  • Superb judging pool
  • 7 minutes speeches
  • Break to final
  • Epic social
  • Reg fee just £35!

‘Open’ means that whilst institutional teams (I.e. York A, Leeds B) are welcome, encouraged, and will be attending, teams composed of speakers from different societies are also welcome, encouraged, and will be attending. Motions will be closed, and 7 minutes in length. 5 rounds breaking directly to a final. Dinner will be provided, but competitors will have to source their own lunch, which shouldn’t be at all difficult.

So, once you’ve filled out our registration form, and checked out the information on offer, simply join our facebook group, and we’ll see you there!
